About This Course
This training explores the relationship between substance use and those who have experienced intimate partner violence. Unfortunately, due to our siloed services and often siloed beliefs and preconceptions about survivors of intimate partner violence, survivors are regularly forced to choose between addressing either their safety or their sobriety.
This training explores the prevalence of IPV and substance use, how substance use coercion is a tactic used as a larger pattern of maintaining power and control, and how stigma acts as a major barrier to survivors getting the help they need. This training will look at how to safety plan with survivors who use substances and will identify approaches, resources, and interventions that effectively address both safety and sobriety.
