About This Course
This will be an interactive training in which participants will be able to explore and discuss the roots of abusive behaviors, the motivations for change, and strategies to challenge and support individuals who have been harming their partners and children.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the role of biology and gender socialization in the development of abusive patterns;
- Identify differences among people who act abusively;
- Describe appropriate strategies to support someone who has been acting abusively;
- Identify and discuss their own reactions to working with people who act abusively.
Intended Audience:
DBHIdS and OHS staff and providers, behavioral health service provider staff, and other human services and community based organization staff.

Completion Requirements:
Participants must attend the entire session, participate in all activities, and submit an evaluation within the 7 days of training to receive credits and a certificate. All CEU certificates and certificates of attendance will be received through the DBHIDS Learning Hub. Once you have completed your evaluation you will have access to your CEU or Certificate of Attendance through your DBHIDS Learning Hub Account.
Credit Statements:
BHTEN is accredited by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and is authorized to issue the IACET CEU.
As an IACET Accredited Provider, BHTEN offers CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET Standard. BHTEN is authorized by IACET to offer CEUs for this program.
