About This Course

In our very connected world, many of our youth are overwhelmed with negative and harmful influences that create the “sea of mean” many of them live in day after day.  Navigating the negativity and unkind behaviors, both in-person and across digital platforms, can undermine confidence, well-being and a sense of self. Adults both in and out of agencies and schools must work together to address the “sea of mean” so we can foster more respectful and emotionally safe environments for our youth.

Learning Objectives: 

• Discuss the types of bullying and harassment youth experience
• Look at the current cultural norms and influences that encourage bullying and harassment among youth
• Examine the short- and long-term impacts of bullying and harassment on mental and physical health
• Review the digital life of youth and how to cross the “digital divide” to encourage safe and healthy digital engagement;

Intended Audience: 

Educators, school staff, & behavioral health provider agency staff.

Completion Requirements: 

Participants must attend the entire session, participate in all activities, and submit an evaluation within the 7 days of training to receive credits and a certificate. All CEU certificates and certificates of attendance will be received through the DBHIDS Learning Hub. Once you have completed your evaluation you will have access to your CEU or Certificate of Attendance through your DBHIDS Learning Hub Account.

Credit Statements:

BHTEN is accredited by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and is authorized to issue the IACET CEU. 
As an IACET Accredited Provider, BHTEN offers CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET Standard.  BHTEN is authorized by IACET to offer CEUs for this program.
