About This Course
The U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy, issued, “A Surgeon General’s Advisory on Protecting Youth Mental Health”. In 2024, 21% of youth ages 12 – 15 reporting experiencing a major depressive episode in the past year an increase from 2019 when 16% of youth did. Girls are twice as likely to experience clinical depression and the National Institute of Health found an increase in the prevalence of a diagnosed mental or behavioral health disorder among adolescents between 2016 and 2024.
