About This Course
The words we choose shape perceptions, influence relationships, and impact whether individuals feel valued, respected, and included. This interactive training explores the role language plays in fostering inclusive environments while helping participants recognize implicit bias, stereotypes, and common communication patterns that may unintentionally exclude or marginalize others. Through discussion, reflection, real-world examples, and practical exercises, participants will learn strategies for using bias-aware language, responding to microaggressions, promoting respectful communication, and creating cultures of belonging in professional and community settings. Attendees will leave with actionable tools to strengthen communication, build trust, and support inclusion in everyday interactions.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify common forms of bias, including stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination, and implicit bias.
- Explain how language and implicit bias influence communication, inclusion, and professional interactions.
- Demonstrate strategies for using bias-aware and inclusive language in workplace and healthcare settings.
- Apply communication techniques to respond effectively to biased language and microaggressions.
