About This Course
Dr. Sandy Capaldi will provide an overview of exposure therapy for the treatment of Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD). Participants will review the clinical features, cognitive and behavioral maintenance factors, and evidence-based conceptualization of social anxiety, with particular attention to fear of negative evaluation, safety behaviors, and avoidance patterns. The training will focus on the development and implementation of exposure-based interventions, designed to promote learning and reduce reliance on safety behaviors. Through case examples and exposure planning exercises, clinicians will enhance their ability to effectively deliver exposure therapy for individuals with social anxiety disorder.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the core diagnostic features and maintenance factors associated with Social Anxiety Disorder.
- Identify common safety behaviors and avoidance strategies that contribute to the persistence of social anxiety symptoms.
- Develop and implement exposure-based interventions that target fear of negative evaluation and social avoidance.
- Apply response prevention strategies and address common treatment barriers when delivering exposure therapy for Social Anxiety Disorder.
Intended Audience:
Mental health professionals who may work with individuals with suspected or confirmed diagnosis of social anxiety disorder.

Participants must attend the entire session, participate in all activities, and submit an evaluation within the 7 days of training to receive credits and a certificate. All CEU certificates and certificates of attendance will be received through the DBHIDS Learning Hub. Once you have completed your evaluation you will have access to your CEU or Certificate of Attendance through your DBHIDS Learning Hub Account.
